Radar

Find people who want to go.

Turn on Looking for partners and Yerp matches you with people nearby who share an activity and are looking too. For when your crew is busy, you just moved, or you want to try something new.

  1. Let people know you're looking

On the Radar tab, flip the Looking for partners switch. Short range covers the next 7 days.

Radar: Let people know you're looking

  2. Pick who sees you and how far you'll go

Choose your activities, where you broadcast from, and how far you'll travel: 25, 50, 100 or 250 mi. Broadcast to Public, Following + friends, Friends, or a group.

Radar: Pick who sees you and how far you'll go

  3. Say what you're up for

Add a note of up to 120 characters, like "Free most weekends. Who wants to climb?" It clears when you turn Radar off.

Radar: Say what you're up for

  4. See who's looking

Matches are grouped as Friends, Following, Followers and More people. Each one shows town, distance, activities and their note.

  5. Say hi

Tap a person to swipe through cards with your shared activities and a ready-to-send opener. Swiping only browses; nobody is accepted or rejected.

Example

Emily finds a trad partner

  1. Emily Parker just moved to Pisgah Forest and wants to learn trad.
  2. She turns on Looking for partners with Climbing, 25 mi, and the note "Newer to outdoor climbing and looking for patient partners to learn trad from."
  3. Katie Wilson shows up 1 mi away. Her note says she climbs weekday evenings and weekends around Looking Glass.
  4. Emily taps Katie's card and sends the suggested opener. They make a plan for Saturday.

Good to know

  • Matching goes both ways. You both need to be in each other's audience, share an activity, and be within range. Your two travel distances add up, so you meet in the middle.
  • Filter by activity. The chips across the top, like Friends or Biking, narrow your matches.
  • Radar lasts 7 days. You get a reminder a day before it ends. Tap Keep me visible to renew.
  • Peek before you go visible. With Radar off you still see how many people are looking near your city.
  • Thinking further out? Long range looks past the next 7 days and lines people up with your plans. It's free for now and will later be part of Yerp Pro. Short range stays free.
